'Reverse microwave' unveiled that can chill bottle of wine in just three minutes

If you’re a wine drinker, it’s likely you know the annoyance of waiting for your fridge to slowly chill your favourite bottle of Sauvignon Blanc.

But the days, of resorting to diluting your wine with ice could be a thing of the past, thanks to a new ‘reverse microwave,’ dubbed Juno.

The contraption, which was revealed at the CES technology conference in Las Vegas this week, can chill a bottle of wine in just three minutes.

The device uses thermoelectric technology to quickly wick heat away your drink, whether it’s a bottle of wine or a hot mug of coffee.

Matrix, the firm behind the product, explained: “Juno can do so much more than just chill wine. It can turn your freshly brewed coffee cold, transform your hot tea into iced tea, and cool your favourite beer or soda, right in the can.”

Users simply pop their drink into the device, close the lid, and hit one of two top buttons depending on their preferred length of chilling time.

Within minutes, a light stripe on the device will then change from red to blue, indicating that the drink has reached your desired temperature.

Akram Boukai, CEO and co-founder of Matrix, said: “Juno is the ultimate consumer demonstration of how our cooling technology can radically alter the way we manipulate temperatures.

“But the applications are endless and we’re so excited for the future partnerships and use-cases of MATRIX thermoelectric cooling technology.”

Unfortunately, Juno isn’t exactly cheap, with a price-tag of $299 (£227).

However, Matrix is currently crowdfunding the project on Indiegogo , where early buyers can snap up their own device for the slightly less eye-watering price of $199 (£152).
