Revenue seizes over €35,900 worth of drugs labelled as 'chocolates' in Dublin

Revenue officers seized herbal cannabis worth more than €35,900 at the Dublin Mail Centre.

A total of 1.8kgs of the illegal drugs were discovered in 13 separate parcels which originated from the US.

The items were declared as "model car", "sweets", "chocolate", and "Pez dispensers".

All the parcels were destined for addresses in Dublin.

A Revenue spokesman said: "Investigations are ongoing.

"Between 1 January and 29 February this year, Revenue officers in Mail Centres nationwide, have detected and detained drugs with an estimated value of €1.2 million. 

"These seizures are part of Revenue's ongoing operations targeting the importation of illegal drugs.

"If businesses or members of the public have any information regarding smuggling, they can contact Revenue in confidence on Confidential Phone Number 1800 295 295."
