Revenue seize €80,000 of illegal medicine from India addressed to Dublin location

Revenue officers seized €80,000 worth of illegal medicine which was destined for a Dublin address.

Nearly 13kg of suspected Alprazolam, which came from India, was found in a package at the Dublin Parcel Hub on Thursday.

The parcel, with around 40,000 tablets, was seized as part of an operation targeting the sale of illegal medicines in the "shadow economy".

A spokesman said: "As a result of routine profiling, Revenue officers at the Dublin Parcel Hub seized 12.9Kgs of illegal medicine, suspected to be Alprazolam, with estimated value of €80,000.

"Investigations are ongoing with a view to prosecution.

"These seizures are part of Revenue's ongoing operations targeting the supply and sale of illegal drugs and medicines in the shadow economy.
