Revenue officers have seized €1.5 million of cocaine at Rosslare Europort.

The staggering 22kg of the drug were found when an Irish vehicle was stopped and searched after disembarking a ferry from Cherbourg in France.

The search was carried out with the help of Revenue’s mobile x-ray scanner and Detector Dog Flynn.

The illegal drugs were then discovered in a concealment behind the back seat of the vehicle.

Two men in their 20s, who live in Ireland, were arrested by gardai at the scene and taken to Wexford garda station.

A Revenue spokesman added: "Investigations are ongoing.

"These routine operations are part of Revenue’s ongoing work targeting smuggling and shadow economy activity. If businesses, or members of the public have any information, they can contact Revenue in confidence on Confidential Phone Number 1800 295 295."
