Revenue officers seize €700,000 worth of illegal drugs in Dublin

Over €700,000 worth of illegal drugs were seized by Revenue officers in Dublin.

A total of 36kgs of cannabis herb and 6 kg of cannabis resin was discovered concealed within a furniture consignment from Spain on Wednesday.

Additionally, detector dog Robbie sniffed 6 kg of cannabis herb from parcels at a premises in Dublin.

The drugs seized in both operations have a combined estimated value of €716,000.

A Revenue spokesman said: "Investigations are ongoing.

"These seizures are part of Revenue's ongoing operations targeting organised crime groups and the importation, sale and supply of illegal drugs. If businesses or members of the public have any information regarding smuggling, they can contact Revenue in confidence on Confidential Phone Number 1800 295 295."
