Revenue officers seize €145,000 worth of illegal drugs disguised as 'toys' and 'PPE'

Revenue officers today seized 15kg worth of illegal drugs at a Dublin Mail Centre in the midst of routine operations and with the help of their detector dog, Bailey.

Among the substances found were herbal cannabis, cannabis oil, butane honey oil, khat, amphetamine, and methamphetamine.

As well as this, officers came across 750 Zopiclone tablets, 500 Benzodiazepine tablets, and 9600 canisters of nitrous oxide.

According to a statement, the illegal drugs have a combined estimated value of around €145,000 and were hidden in several parcels that were sent from the USA, Canada, UK, Spain, Switzerland, Kenya, and the Netherlands.

The parcels were falsely declared as items like ‘PPE’, ‘toys’, ‘books’ ‘electronic goods’, ‘laptop components’, ‘measuring cups’, ‘padlocks’ and ‘antique glassware’ and were on their way to various addresses across Ireland.

"These seizures are part of Revenue's ongoing operations targeting the importation of illegal drugs.

Investigations in relation to this seizure are ongoing.
