Revenue officers find ridiculous amount of cash in bag in Dublin Airport

A whopping €177,000 in cash has been seized at Dublin Aiport.

The huge amount was found by Revenue Officers after they searched hand luggage belonging to a South African man going to Germany.

The man in his forties was stopped while waiting to go to Dusseldorf before the loot was found and seized.

On Monday officers were granted permission to hold the cash for three months while they investigate it's origin.

In a statement they said: "On Monday (08/07/2019) at Dublin District Court, Revenue Officers from Dublin Airport were granted a three month cash detention order by Judge Patricia Harney.

The huge amount was found in Dublin Airport (Revenue)

"This followed the seizure of €177,300 last Saturday (06/07/2019) when, following routine profiling, Revenue Officers stopped and searched a man in his forties travelling to Dusseldorf, Germany.

"The cash was found hidden in the hand luggage of the South African national, as well as on his person. Revenue officers seized the cash suspecting it to be the proceeds of, or intended for use in, criminal activity.  "
