Revenue officers at Dublin Port seize more than €500,000 worth of smuggled vodka

Smuggled alcohol worth over €500,000 has been seized by Revenue officials at Dublin Port.

The 13,500 litre of 'Krackoff' vodka was discovered yesterday in an unaccompanied trailer that originated from Belgium.

The illegal booze has an estimated retail value of €510,000, representing a loss to the exchequer of €326,781, Dublin Live reports.

Since 1 January 2020, over 265,000 litres of alcohol with a retail value of over €1 million have been seized in Dublin Port.

A Revenue spokesman said investigations into the latest find are ongoing.

He added: "These seizures are part of Revenue's ongoing operations targeting the supply and sale of illegal alcohol in the shadow economy.

"If businesses or members of the public have any information regarding the smuggling or sale of illegal alcohol, they can contact Revenue in confidence on our confidential line 1800 295 295."
