Revenue dog sniffs out huge amount of cannabis in Dublin raid

A Revenue dog sniffed out a huge amount of illegal drugs hidden in parcels in Dublin.

Officers discovered a total of 7kgs of herbal cannabis with the help of detector dog Waffle on Thursday. The drugs, which had an estimated value of €140,000, were found concealed in seven different parcels.

The packages had originated in Spain and were destined for an address in Dublin City Centre. A Revenue spokeswoman said: "Investigations are ongoing.

"This seizure is part of Revenue's ongoing operations targeting the importation of illegal drugs. If businesses or members of the public have any information regarding smuggling, they can contact Revenue in confidence on our Confidential Phone Number 1800 295 295."
