Revenue detector dog Blue helps find €60,000 of MDMA in Dublin Airport search

Revenue detector dog blue helped officers find MDMA worth €60,000 in Dublin Airport this week.

The 1kg find was made in the transport hub on Monday, November 25.

It was made as part of routine operations after a 28-year-old man from Northern Ireland was stopped and searched after coming off a flight from Amsterdam.

The man has since appeared in court charged in connection with the find.

A Revenue spokeswoman said: "On Monday (25/11/2019), as a result of a routine operation, Revenue officers in Dublin Airport seized 1kg of MDMA with an estimated street value of €60,000.

"The illegal drugs were found with the assistance of detector dog Blue when Revenue officers stopped and searched the luggage of a 28 year old man from Northern Ireland who had disembarked a flight from Amsterdam.

"The man was arrested by Gardai and detained at Ballymun Garda station.

"Yesterday (26/11/2019), the man appeared at the Criminal Courts of Justice on charges of importation of a controlled substance.  He was remanded in custody to Cloverhill Prison and will appear again at Cloverhill District Court on 3 December 2019.
