Revenge of the Nerds and Bloodsport star dies aged 71

  • Donald Gibb, the actor best known for his role as the campus bully Ogre in the 1980s film Revenge of the Nerds, has died at the age of 71.
  • His son, Travis, confirmed that Gibb passed away on Tuesday, 12 May, at his Texas home from ongoing health complications, surrounded by his family and loved ones.
  • The 6 ft 4 inch New York-born actor was frequently cast in roles requiring a formidable physique, including parts in Conan the Barbarian, Bloodsport alongside Jean-Claude Van Damme, and US Marshals.
  • Gibb reprised his iconic Ogre role in two Revenge of the Nerds sequels, Nerds in Paradise and Nerds in Love.
  • Last year, Gibb revealed that the enduring fandom for Revenge of the Nerds helped him overcome depression after a divorce, stating that his fans “saved my life”.
