Revealed: why Michail Antonio missed out for West Ham against Chelsea

Michail Antonio was due to start West Ham's trip to Chelsea in the Premier League on Monday night but missed out as a late withdrawal on the eve of the game.

Football.London understands that the Hammers winger suffered a minor ankle problem in training ahead of the game which forced him to pull out of the squad and he was replaced in the starting eleven by the returning Felipe Anderson.

It's not yet known how serious Antonio's injury is so his fitness could well be in doubt for the weekend's trip to Old Trafford to take on Manchester United.

Antonio has been in and out of the starting lineup for Manuel Pellegrini n 2019 after having a strong end to 2018 and there are rumours he is one of the players who could be moved on to make funds for the manager to spend in the summer as he clears out the Hammers squad.

"Deservedly dropped" - West Ham fans react to Issa Diop being benched for West Ham at Chelsea

That said, the England winger has played 33 times for Pellegrini this season, scoring five goals in 2018/19.
