Revealed: The worst Bristol roads for congestion

Bristol has been named one of the most congested cities in the UK.

It is the capital of the South West for congestion and the eighth worst for traffic queues in the country, according to a new report by sat nav firm TomTom.

The average car journey in Bristol takes a third longer than it should, the research says.

Here is a list of the five most congested roads in the city, including percentages which show the extra time compared to 'uncongested conditions'.

  • Bath Road, Totterdown - 270.6 per cent
  • Fishponds Road, Fishponds - 183.4 per cent
  • Temple Way, city centre - 172.6 per cent
  • York Road, city centre - 152 per cent
  • Airport Road, Hengrove - 133.4 per cent

For a third year running, Edinburgh has been ranked the UK’s most congested, with an average of 41 per cent extra time stuck in traffic.

Brighton and Hove came in with 35 per cent, while Bournemouth and Hull each had 34 per cent.
