Revealed: The sizeable chunk Bristol City would have to pay Ipswich Town should Aston Villa's Adam Webster bid be accepted

Rumours continue to swirl over Premier League interest in Adam Webster.

Bristol City knocked back a £12m bid from Aston Villa for the central defender, but Dean Smith's side appear to have not been dissuaded.

Instead, Villa are set to submit an improved bid for the 24-year-old.

However, with City believed to have slapped a £30m price tag on Webster, there appears to be quite the disparity between the two sides' valuations of the player.

Should Villa eventually submit an acceptable offer, then the Robins will be in the money for the second time this summer having already sold Lloyd Kelly to Bournemouth.

Yet not all of the fee will go to the Robins.

When City signed Webster from Ipswich Town last season, they agreed a sell-on clause with the Tractor Boys, which will see 20 per cent of any fee paid for Webster go to Portman Road.

That means that, should the Robins get their wish of a £30m fee, £6m of that will go to Ipswich.

Perhaps that explains the high asking price for the defender - for example, had the Robins accepted the £12m bid, then they would have ended up receiving under £10m for him.
