Revealed: The brutal impact of coronavirus on Nottingham Forest squad's market value

Coronavirus is starting to impact the economics in football and Nottingham Forest's squad value has decreased greatly from earlier on this month as a result.

Covid-19 has claimed 7,097 lives in the United Kingdom having infected 60,733 people, with the pandemic approaching its peak according to experts.

The virus has hospitalised Prime Minister Boris Johnson, who remains in intensive care in St Thomas' hospital, London.

Football is starting to pale into insignificance as the country starts to deal with the pandemic that will define a generation, but the game's clubs and authorities are still having to deal with the uncertainty caused by the outbreak.

Forest have furloughed staff as have East Midlands rivals Derby County while the EFL and Premier League is fighting to resume the 2019-20 season so as to avoid a hefty bill from broadcasters.

Sabri Lamouchi's side, meanwhile, have seen the market value of their side - as a collective and individually - take a big hit.

Earlier on this month the Reds' team was valued at £60 million.

Now, though, total value at the time of writing is just shy of £49m - an £11m difference.

Clubs will be worried top sides will be able to pinch their stars on the cheap, with Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer already saying his side could 'exploit' the situation when the transfer window opens.
