Revealed: The biggest deals from the Championship transfer window as Bristol City, Leeds United and Derby County splash the cash

So the madness of the summer transfer window has come to an end.

Clubs were frantically getting deals across the line at 5pm yesterday as the window slammed shut, meaning they are now only able to sign free agents.

There were plenty of eye-catching deals across the division - here are the players who commanded the biggest fees according to TransferMarkt.

Helder Costa - Wolves to Leeds United (£13.5m after initial loan)

This was one of the most eye-catching transfers of the summer, with Leeds United managing to sign the Portuguese winger who impressed in the Championship for Wolves two seasons ago.

Although it is initially a loan move, the Whites will have to pay £13.5m when they sign the player on a permanent deal next summer.

Isaac Mbenza - Montpellier to Huddersfield town (£11.25m)

Huddersfield splashed the cash on their return to the Championship, making the biggest permanent transfer of the summer. However, Mbenza is a familiar face to Terriers fans as he spent last season on loan at the club.

The French striker moved on loan to Huddersfield from Montpellier last summer in a deal that could be turned permanent, and the Terriers triggered that clause to keep him at the club.

Tomas Kalas - Chelsea to Bristol City (£8.1m)

Bristol City broke their transfer record to sign Czech defender Tomas Kalas. Similarly to Mbenza, Kalas is no stranger to his new club, having spent last season on loan from Chelsea.

The Robins had three players on loan from Stamford Bridge and signed all of them on permanent deals.

Kenneth Zohore - Cardiff City to West Brom (£8.01m)

West Brom were highly active towards the end of the transfer window but they spent big on a deal in July. Zohore failed to fire in the Premier League last season but had a solid Championship record for Cardiff.

However, a few eyebrows were raised at an £8m fee for the 25-year-old Dane.

Krystian Bielik - Arsenal to Derby County (£7.38m)

Derby County splashed the cash for new manager Phillip Cocu, bringing in Krystian Bielik from Arsenal.

The Polish under-21 international can play in both defence and midfield and impressed on loan at Charlton last season, helping them win promotion to the Championship.

George Puscas - Inter Milan to Reading (£7.2m)

Romanian international Puscas signed for Reading a day before the window shut, becoming the club's record signing.

The striker has spent the majority of his career in Italy and netted 10 goals in 33 appearances for Palermo in Serie B last season.

Han-Noah Massengo - Monaco to Bristol City (£7.2m)

The Robins appear on this list for a second time after they signed defensive midfielder Massengo from Monaco.

Eighteen-year-old Massengo appeared in the Champions League for Monaco, becoming the first player born in the 21st century to play in the tournament.

Ivan Sunjic - Dinamo Zagreb to Birmingham City (£7.2m)

Birmingham's biggest transfer spend this summer was defensive midfielder Sunjic.

At 22, the Croatian international is tipped to have a big future in the game, and he captained his country at this year's European under-21 Championships.

Bryan Mbeumo - Troyes to Brentford (£5.85m)

Brentford signed the French under-20 winger earlier this month from Troyes, where he made 41 appearances and scored 11 goals.

The 20-year-old has spent the majority of his career in the second tier of French football, scoring 10 goals in 35 league matches last season.

Pontus Jansson - Leeds United to Brentford (£5.54m)

In an eye-catching deal, Brentford also managed to bring talismanic Leeds defender Jansson to Griffin Park.

The Sweden international made over 100 appearances for the Elland Road club in a three-year spell in Yorkshire.
