Formby High has been named the best school in Sefton by our Real Schools Guide 2019.
The Freshfield Road school overtook Greenbank High School which was ranked Sefton's best school in last year's guide.
The Real Schools Guide 2019 aims to give a far more comprehensive picture than traditional league tables. It is compiled by the ECHO's data team.
It takes into account 51 different data points. This includes not just GCSE results, and Attainment 8 scores, but also factors like Progress 8, pupil-teacher ratios and absence rates.
Formby High School became an academy in 2012 and has just over 1000 pupils.
The school has not been inspected by Ofsted since becoming an academy, but was rated 'outstanding' when it was last assessed by the watchdog in 2008.

The school motto is ‘determined to achieve’ and this is done through 'work and encouragement', according to the school's website.
It adds: "Outside the classroom our students are encouraged to take part in a wide range of community projects, extra-curricular activities, class trips and fundraising initiatives to build their confidence.
"In doing this they begin to take responsibility for shaping a better future for themselves, their peers and the community beyond the school walls...
"All students and staff at Formby High School strive to reach to the highest standards and that is reflected in the positive actions and behaviours that drive them to succeed."
Formby High's former pupils include Labour MP Angela Eagle and actress Stacey Roca.
The , now in its seventh year, has been praised by ministers and education experts alike.
Former schools minister David Laws called it "public-service journalism in the best tradition".
