Revealed: Proposed dates for Notts County play-off campaign

Notts County's National League play-off semi-final is likely to be played on the last weekend of next month.

The Magpies are hoping to clinch promotion back to the Football League at the first attempt.

At one stage, their hopes of doing so looked to have been dashed after the season was curtailed due to the coronavirus pandemic.

However, clubs voted to decide the final standings using a points-per-game system, and retain the play-offs to decide the second promotion spot, subject to FA Council approval.

It means Notts finish third in the table, which sees them go straight to the semi-final, where they are set to host the winners of Yeovil Town (4th) and Barnet (7th).

Harrogate Town will contest the other semi against the winners of Boreham Wood (5th) and Halifax Town (6th).

The play-off schedule has yet to be officially confirmed but NottinghamshireLive understands that Neal Ardley's men are likely to play their semi-final on the weekend of July 25-26.

And the provisional date for the final - to be held at a neutral venue - is Friday, July 31.

The National League are believed to be in discussions with broadcaster BT Sport, who will be showing the games live, to finalise the dates and kick-off times.

Notts returned to training today (Monday) to prepare for the season climax after all players tested negative for Covid-19 last week.

All players and key personnel will continue to be tested for the virus on a weekly basis.

During "Stage One" of training, only two groups of five players are permitted on the pitch at one time and social distancing guidelines must be adhered to at all times.

Contact training with larger groups is scheduled to resume next week.

All play-off matches will be played behind closed doors for health and safety reasons.
