Revealed: How much Tottenham have earned from the Champions League this season

Tottenham Hotspur's run to the semi-final of the Champions League last season earned the club £45.2m.

Mauricio Pochettino's side have certainly learned from the harsh lessons that European football's elite club competition can offer as they have gone two steps further in comparison to their fortunes in the 2017/2018 campaign.

Just featuring in the group phase, the north London outfit received a group stage allocation of €15.25m (£13.1m).

Paired in the group stage with Barcelona, Inter Milan and PSV Eindhoven, the Lilywhites were on the brink of elimination until Lucas Moura equalised on matchday six at the Camp Nou to seal a place in the round of 16.

Group stage performance bonuses was €2.7m per win so as Spurs only won two of their six group games they earned €5.4m (£4.6m).

€900,000 was the reward per draw, but undistributed amounts were pooled and redistributed among the clubs playing in the group stage in amounts proportionate to their number of wins.

It's the knockout stages where Spurs have really seen the money roll in.

Qualification for the round of 16 means they received €9.5m (£8.2m) and then a cool €10.5m (£9m) for setting up an all-Premier League quarter-final against Manchester City.

That dramatic result on Wednesday night at the Eithad Stadium booked a semi-final berth against Ajax and earned the club €12m (£10.3m).

In total, Spurs have earned roughly about €52.6m (£45.2m) from the Champions League so far this season plus their share of the €900,000 per draw in the group phase.

And they could still earn more.

As revealed by UEFA , qualification for the final is worth €15m (£12.9m) and the UEFA Champions League winners can expect to collect an additional €4m (£3.4m).

Based on Uefa's new ten-year ranking, where €585m has been divided into 'coefficient shares', each worth €1.108m, Spurs are in line for another bonus, but they are one of the lowest ranked teams in the competition.
