Revealed: How much Bristol City stand to make with Sheffield United set to beat Leeds United to QPR star Luke Freeman

A former Bristol City player is set to move to the Premier League.

Sheffield United are close to a deal for Luke Freeman, with the Blades set to beat Leeds United to the QPR winger.

Blades boss Chris Wilder has described the deal as a bargain, and backed him to succeed in the Premier League.

"He’s bargain, yes, I think he is,” Wilder told  the Sheffield Star . “It’s a decent number for us but in terms of the division we’re in, we’re happy with what we’ve paid. And QPR are happy to accept our bid.

"He’s enthusiastic, dynamic and talented. His stats are right up there. We look at the stats, the key stats we look at for players, and then also reports and my own eyes.

"He can create and he can score. I’m sure he can play a part in this group."

It could well be a case of what if for the Robins , who were forced to sell the winger in January 2017 due to the fact his contract was close to expiring.

The Robins managed to snag a fee believed to be around £500,000 for the player - and they are now set for even more money.

Bristol Live understands a sell-on clause was inserted into the deal with QPR, meaning that 15 per cent of any profit made by the Loftus Road club on a future sale of Freeman would go to the Robins.

Whilst Wilder has said the fee is a bargain, talkSPORT report that the Blades will pay £5m for his services.

That means that the Robins will be set to pocket 15 per cent of £4.5m - in other words £675,000.

Not bad for a player they sold over two years ago.
