Revealed: How Manchester United could play a huge part in deciding Chelsea and Aston Villa star Tammy Abraham's future

Former Bristol City star Tammy Abraham looks set to be on the move this summer.

With 24 goals in 36 appearances for Aston Villa, Abraham has fully recaptured the form he found in the Championship with the Robins two seasons ago.

That tally included a goal from the penalty spot against the Robins on Saturday, but it seems unlikely he will be playing in claret and blue next season - even if Villa go up through the play-offs.

Birmingham Live report that his loan from Chelsea expires at the end of the season, and there are serious doubts over his long-term future at Stamford Bridge.

Abraham turned down an offer from Wolves in January, with clubs alerted to the fact that the Blues may be willing to let him leave for a decent sum of money.

German club Red Bull Leipzig are said to be leading the queue of sides wanting to sign the former Robin on a permanent deal in the summer, and have taken trips to watch him in action this season.

Timo Werner is set to depart, showing no signs of wanting to sign a new deal, meaning Leipzig are in search of a new striker.

Yet their transfer plans could be ripped up, with Manchester United chasing their head of recruitment Paul Mitchell.

The former Wigan Athletic and MK Dons midfielder has already worked in English football, identifying talent for the likes of Tottenham Hotspur and Southampton, and his reputation has only grown at Leipzig.

United want to expand their department responsible for recruiting new signings and have Mitchell in their sights.

Manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer wants to have the position filled ahead of the transfer window and Mitchell fits the bill, meaning Leipzig's stance on Abraham could be about to change, leaving the door open for other suitors.
