Revealed: EFL plan to show all Nottingham Forest matches live

The EFL are seeking to renegotiate their £595million deal with Sky Sports to allow all matches to be shown live when football returns after the coronavirus crisis.

Only 18 months after penning the controversial TV deal, the EFL are hoping to come to an agreement with Sky that would mean they could stream every fixture - including Nottingham Forest 's Championship games - live via their iFollow service.

The Mail reports that chairman Rick Parry wrote to all 71 Football League clubs last week and outlined plans for matches to be broadcast live on the iFollow service when sport returns as a way of generating revenue while matches are played behind closed doors.

However, that scheme would breach their deal with Sky Sports as the terms of the current deal only allow the EFL to stream midweek matches and rescheduled games, with any weekend matches and games chosen for live coverage by Sky off limits.

Sky are said to be in a strong negotiating position as they are only in the first year of their five-year deal with the EFL and would likely resist any request to waive exclusivity, or demand a hefty price.

It is likely that there is more room to negotiate on matches in League One and League Two, with Sky regularly criticised for not airing more games from the lowest two divisions, but the Championship is an issue.

Sky would be determined to continue to televise the biggest games in the division, including the fight for automatic promotion and a spot in the play-offs, as well as the battle to avoid relegation.
