Revealed: Bristol City need to upset the odds to beat Derby County and Middlesbrough to the play-offs

Bristol City now have to upset the odds if they are to make the Championship play-offs.

Betting comparison site Oddschecker have figured out that the Robins have a 29 per cent of making the top six in what looks to be a four-horse race for the final play-off spot.

The Robins are ranked as 5/2 to finish in the top six.

Derby County, who currently occupy sixth, are ranked at 2/1 favourites for the play-offs after they beat QPR on Monday.

Middlesbrough (11/4) and Swansea City (40/1) make up the chasing pack - although Boro have played one more game than the rest of the teams.

The Robins had been odds-on favourite for a top-six finish but their poor Easter weekend mean they have to do it all over again, starting with the game against Derby - although Oddschecker's George Elek has noticed a slight quirk in things going into Saturday's huge game against Derby.

Derby County without experienced duo for Bristol City as Frank Lampard hopes to address Rams terrible away form

He said: "Just the one point from their last three games has set back Bristol City’s promotion hopes, although a win on Saturday would go far to getting them back on track.

"Despite being outsiders in the race for sixth, Lee Johnson’s side are the favourites to win the game at 11/8, and that would put them back in control of their destiny with two games to go."
