Revamp planned for Oldbury Court after lockdown

Council chiefs have vowed to repair Oldbury Court's water feature after it broke two years ago.

The huge structure is the centrepiece of the Fishpond's play area but for more than 24 months children have not been able to use it.

Following a Freedom of Information request, a Bristol City Council spokesperson confirmed the work, which will cost £1,000, will be completed as soon as lockdown restrictions are lifted.

A spokesperson said: "I have discussed your request with our play coordinator and she has assured me that the play inspectors will get this unit operational before the summer holidays 2020.

"Work may have to be done after the COVID-19 issue has settled, due to social distancing measures. The play inspectors have been made aware, that this has to be fixed, as a matter of priority and will timetable it into their repair work accordingly."

The famous water feature, which attracts families across the city, was closed after investigators found it had a broken electronic valve.
