Revamp observation homes: HC CJ

CUTTACK: Chief Justice of Orissa high court S Muralidhar on Sunday called for the need to encourage the voices of children and revamping observation homes in order to serve the real purpose of the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection) Act, 2015.

Speaking at the eastern region conference to explore ways and means for effective implementation of the JJ Act at Odisha Judicial Academy here, Justice Muralidhar said that law treats many kinds of behaviour as crime and the major challenge for stakeholders was dealing with the children from different age groups in a uniform manner. He stressed the need for segregation of real criminal behaviour and non-conforming behaviour.

The conference was inaugurated on Saturday. Chairpersons of the Juvenile Justice Committees of the high courts of Bihar, Jharkhand, Chhatisgarh, West Bengal and Odisha participated in the conference.TNN
