Return to school full-time in Scotland confirmed by Nicola Sturgeon

Kids will go back to school full-time next month.

First Minister Nicola Sturgeon has just confirmed the news in the Scottish Parliament, ending months of uncertainty for families across the country.

The move means thousands of youngsters will go back to the classroom on August 11 for the first time in five months.

Ms Sturgeon explained that for practical reasons some local authorities may opt for a phased return in the first few days, but she insisted: "All pupils will return to school full-time by August 18."

The announcement comes after it was revealed that the majority of children shouldn't need to wear face masks.

However, a raft of new measures will be introduced to ensure the safety of staff and pupils.

Two metre distancing will remain in place wherever possible between adults and adults and children not from the same household.

Grown-ups will be required to wear face coverings when they can't adhere to the distancing rule and interacting face-to-face for 15 minutes or more.
