Return of Kynren in 2021 will reveal stunning new attraction The Park

Epic outdoor extravaganza Kynren will be back next year with a whole new experience for audiences.

The live production, which covers a huge site at Bishop Auckland in County Durham, was called off this year due to the pandemic.

But the show has announced dates for 2021 when audiences will get to see a special new addition to the event, called The Park.

It had been hoped The Park could be unveiled this summer on what was set to be the fifth annual outing of Kynren - An Epic Tale of England - until lockdown scuppered the plans.

Now it will make its debut next year, when Kynren is planning to return every Saturday between August 7 and September 11.

The Park will introduce new additions such as a maze; a horse stunt show with chariot races, jousting and apparently also dragons; a mini explorers’ adventure playground, live music on the lake and extra dining experiences.

Each year the show, which is presented by Eleven Arches and plays out against the backdrop of Auckland Castle, packs something new into its 90-minute blast through 2,000 years of history which takes in battle re-enactments, fireworks, galloping horses and around 1,000 perfomers.

A previous new addition, which proved a hit with audiences, was the Viking village which visitors can wander around before the start of the show.

The award-winning event, which has had rave TripAdvisor reviews and an inclusion in The Times newspaper's list of 30 Great British mini-break locations, is also welcoming any donations to help support during the pandemic.

Anyone able to help is asked to email season2020@kynren.com and for more about the show see its website here.
