Return of Kirkcudbright's Buckland Burnup sees success for Muir family

The return of the Buckland Burnup proved to be a real family affair.

The five-mile race starting and finishing from Kirkcudbright’s Hope Dunbar Park was back on Saturday after a two-year absence due to the coronavirus.

First home was Haugh of Urr’s Cameron Muir in an impressive time of 28 minutes 26 seconds.

And first woman home was Cameron’s sister Jo, who represented Great Britain in the modern pentathlon at last year’s Olympic Games in Tokyo.

First local was Euan Campbell.

A total of 76 runners completed the course, with 15 walkers also covering the distance. There were also races for 68 juniors to ensure youngsters could join in the fun.

Thanks go to Kirkcudbright Summer Festivities and the volunteers who helped out.
