'Retro-futurism and redhead colors forever!' Bryce Dallas Howard's all-pink and gold guest house has to be seen

Bryce Dallas Howard has a track record of creating stunning interiors, with her glamorous Palm Springs home recently garnering plenty of media attention.

The director and star of Jurassic World spoke then about how old Hollywood glamor inspires her interior design, telling AD how a visit to legendary actress Mia Farrow's 'magical' Connecticut farmhouse left her and actor husband Seth Gabel thinking 'this is what we want our home to be like'.

Teaming up with friend Claire Thomas, an interior designer, commercial film director and the co-owner of Los Angeles’ Sweet Laurel Bakery, helped the couple realize their vision. Thomas, also a redhead, has said in the past that she only uses 'redhead colors' – shades that redheads look good in – for her decor, which explains the impactful pastel pink, green and gold whole house color scheme chosen for both the couple's main home and the guest house. 'I was able to let my love of production design come through with our ideas for color, texture and character in each space,' says Thomas on her Instagram account (see below). 'Retro-futurism and redhead colors forever!'

So, to Bryce Dallas Howard's extraordinarty guest house, packed with pink room ideas, and a whole lot of old Hollywood glamor. Let's take the tour.

'Welcome to Château Howard-Gabel (a.k.a. our guest house).' says Bryce in an Instagram reel. 'The combination of @clairethomas’ artistic eye, stylish touches from @joybird’s furniture collection, and super fun vintage and antique finds made this a beautiful, Palm Springs-inspired dream space.

'In fact, it is so beautiful and comfortable that my family and I lived here for a few months while the main renovations happened!

'We love when our friends and family visit, so we make sure to get them the best of the best so that they just want to keep coming back!'

Key to the glamorous finish is the almost entirely pink color scheme, which extends from the pastel pink kitchen cabinetry to the pink velvet sofa to the drapes that match the wall color perfectly.

'Decorating a pink room is guaranteed to create a cozy, warm-feeling space that's incredibly welcoming, which is why it's so perfect for a guest room – or guest house,' says Homes & Gardens' Editor, Jennifer Ebert. 'No longer seen as a gender-specific color, it's become a real favorite with high end interior designers in the past year or so, who are using it as a neutral.

'Bryce has matched wall-to-wall pink which taps into another trend: color drenching, often used to make small homes look bigger or to create a cocooning space. Both the use of pink and the color drenching show distinct design confidence that is only heightened by the use of the gold accessories.'

Interior architect and designer, and a champion of pink, Natalia Miyar, picks up on this: 'Pink is one of my preferred colors to use for a scheme. I love using pink as a neutral; it's much more interesting than beige or taupe,' says Natalia. 'In the wrong hands, it can look twee [but it] represents glamor, something which is deeply personal and perhaps a bit more adventurous.

'Think about mixing and matching different shades of pink: a baby pink dining room chairs with more vibrant lampshades, say, or a cerise bed frame with peach linens,' she advises.

As for Bryce's furniture, in her reel, she goes on to credit Joybird's Eliot sleeper couch, stylish Vira console and Colette bed.
