Retirement of Titans’ LB Derrick Morgan opens door for Georgia’s D’Andre Walker

Today, Tennesee Titans linebacker Derrick Morgan has surprisingly announced his retirement from the NFL. Morgan, 30 years old, has his sites set on things bigger than football. His retirement gives Georgia Bulldogs’ rookie LB D’Andre Walker a chance to shine for the Titans in 2019. Morgan was a free agent and announced his retirement today:

Morgan will pursue a career in business. He and fellow Titans’ OLB Brian Orakpo both retired in the same off-season leaving a void at outside linebacker for the Titans. The Titans had a solid defense in 2019, but will need to replace the steady pass rush production of the duo.

Enter rookie D’Andre Walker, who was a one man wrecking crew at Georgia last season, and will be tasked with replacing Morgan and Orakpo. With second year LB Harold Landry and veteran Cameron Wake, Walker won’t be forced into a big-role immediately. Walker missed Georgia’s bowl game due to injury and underwent surgery that made his draft stock drop. If 100% healthy, Walker has the talent to contribute right out of the gate for the Titans. The 5th round pick, Walker, will look to prove his critics wrong after putting together an impressive college career.
