A retired Garda sergeant has died after a fatal fire in Co Kilkenny overnight.
The pensioner, who was in his 80s, was in his bungalow with one of his daughters when the blaze broke out at around midnight in Graiguenamanagh.
Emergency services from the village and nearby Thomastown were quickly on the scene.
The injured daughter, in her 50s, was rushed to St Luke’s Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Fire services battled the blaze for several hours and extinguished the fire by 4am.
The retired officer's home is located on Main Street, next to the Garda station where he worked for most of his life.
Technical examinations are being carried out at the scene and the deceased man’s body will be take to Waterford University Hospital for a post mortem to be carried out.
