Resurfacing of A76 set to cause travel disruption for motorists

Part of the A76 is set to close for major roadworks.

Scotland TranServ will resurface 1.1km of the road at Lochside Farm to Mid-Lowes, between Cumnock and Pathhead.

In order to complete the £275k programme as quickly and safely as possible, the trunk road will be closed from 8pm Friday, November 30 and 6am Monday, December 2.

The project has been rescheduled from earlier in the autumn.

Lewis Dorrans, Scotland TranServ’s design lead on the project said:

“Scotland TranServ has been working with local authorities, emergency services and key stakeholders to carefully reschedule this short programme of works.

"We have taken acknowledgment of local events, and the importance of the trunk road to commuters and businesses.

"We are therefore proposing that the project is carried out at the weekend, avoiding important local holidays, and ahead of the busy Festive season.”

Diversions will be in place but drivers are advised to allow additional time for their journeys.
