Resurfaced clip shows Danny MacAskill performing Edinburgh stunts for first time

The very first video that showcased daredevil Scottish cyclist Danny MacAskill’s skills on a mountain bike in the capital has resurfaced online gaining thousands of views.

MacAskill, who is now a world famous street trials/mountain bike rider for Santa Cruz Bicycles and Red Bull, was unknown until 2009 when his flatmate shared a video of him pulling off hair raising stunts at various locations across the capital.

The video was shared again on Twitter by Cool Bike Art who said: “This is the very first video of pro trials cyclist Danny MacAskill, shot in 2009 by his flatmate in and around Edinburgh, Scotland.”

In the footage the biker can be seen jumping from a wall on Johnston Terrace and onto stone cubes several feet away.

He is then filmed performing an unbelievable - and extremely nerve wracking - flip on his bike using a tree in the Meadows to propel him.

MacAskill is then captured careering around Hunter Square, using the stone structures, benches and stairs as props.

In another spine tingling clip, the stunt man is seen jumping from one shop roof to another before landing in a controlled manner off of the second roof.

The Red Bull man is also seen spinning around out the front of the Standard Life building on the Royal Mile and landing insane jumps in front of unimpressed onlookers.

Last but not least, the cyclist shows off his crazy talent by landing a jump from one car park level to another and from the Gallery walkway onto the grass verge on Princes Street Gardens.

He has since gone on to perform stunts all over the world in several continents and become a brand ambassador for several companies.
