Restricted free agents will cost at least $2M to tender in 2019

With the new salary cap of $188.2 million having been revealed, the value of certain contract designations has also been established. The Arizona Cardinals have four restricted free agents and if they wish to use a tender on one of them, it will cost them at least $2 million.

Here are the numbers NFL teams were advised of for the new league year.

A first-round tender will cost $4.407 million. A second-round tender will cost $3.095 million. An original round or low tender will cost $2.025 million.

Arizona’s restricted free agents are running back D.J. Foster, linebacker Jeremy Cash, defensive tackle Olsen Pierre and offensive lineman John Wetzel.

Restricted free agent tenders allow the Cardinals to match any offer another team makes to try and sign the player and, if the Cardinals allow that team to sign the player, they get a draft pick as compensation if the player was drafted when he entered the league.

Is at least $2 million worth it to bring back one of those four players? The Cardinals have until the new league year begins to decide it.
