Completing electricity restoration in Chiba Prefecture after the massive outage triggered by Typhoon No. 15 would likely take another two weeks at the longest, TEPCO Power Grid, Inc. said Friday.
The delay in restoration was due to severe damage caused on facilities in the vast southern part of the prefecture, the utility said at a press conference in Tokyo.
The power outage drags on in the prefecture, making support to prepare for the prolonged blackouts necessary.
The company said restoration is expected to take two weeks at the longest in Minamiboso, Tateyama, Kamogawa and Kyonan.
It will take a week at the longest in 18 of the prefecture's municipalities, including Kimitsu, Futtsu and Sanmu. In Chiba, Ichihara and 13 other municipalities, power was likely to be fully restored in three days at the longest.
