Restaurant tech start-up hires head of marketing to target UK growth

Hospitality tech start-up ePOS Hybrid has hired Andrew Gibbon as its head of marketing.

Gibbon, who has more than nine years’ experience growing start-ups in digital commerce, high-street retail and technology, will aim to sell the Edinburgh firm's point of sales system across the UK.

ePOS Hybrid 's Android-based system fully automates a restaurant or bar’s business operation. It allows customers to choose from a menu and pay online or through self-checkout terminals and smart tables, and helps staff deal with complex orders through its kitchen management system.

Gibbon, a keen rock climber and hill walker, said: “I’ve always had an interest tech innovation and I’m hugely excited to be joining ePOS Hybrid at such a key point in their journey.

“My focus will be on developing and implementing our growth strategies for the next 12 months, scaling our active user base within the UK market, and ensuring we continue to generate sustainable momentum.”

The firm aims to cater for fine dining, casual dining and takeaway operators with its cloud-based technology and hardware.

Bhas Kalangi, who founded the firm in 2016, said: “Good marketing is key for any new company so it’s exciting to have someone of Andrew’s considerable talent join our team.
