A man has been arrested following a terrifying aggravated burglary at a restaurant in Co Dublin which saw staff threatened with a weapon.
Gardai made the arrest on Sunday evening following the incident which occurred in Swords that afternoon.
At around 12pm Gardai responded to a report of aggravated burglary in the Applewood area.
A man entered the restaurant and threatened staff with a knife before fleeing with a sum of cash.
After Gardai carried out investigations a man aged in his 20s was located nearby and was arrested while officers recovered the cash.
A Garda spokesman said: "Gardai have arrested a man in relation to an aggravated burglary which occurred in Swords, Co. Dublin on the 30th May 2021.
"At approximately 12 noon yesterday, Gardai received report of a burglary at a restaurant in the Applewood area of Swords. A male had entered the premises and threatened staff members with a weapon before fleeing the scene with a sum of cash.
"Gardai from Swords Garda Station attended the scene and conducted searches of the area.
"The male (20s) was located at a nearby premises and arrested. He was taken to Swords Garda Station and detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984.
"The sum of stolen cash was recovered.
"A file will be prepared for the DPP in relation to this matter."
