Restaurant sparks anger with smaller steak 'for the ladies'

A restaurant has been branded sexist after launching a new steak just for ladies - who it says often can't handle a larger cut.

The 'ladies fillet steak' was launched in response to what the restaurant says was 'countless' requests for something smaller than a 10oz slab of meat.

Manhattan Bar & Grill on Fenwick Street in Liverpool has now launched an 8oz steak which is listed on the new menu as "one for the ladies".

Karl Hassan, Managing Director, told the  Telegraph, the restaurant was simply catering to a demand from its clientele.

According to BirminghamLive, One social media user wrote: "There is no problem with the "lady steak"... I grew up going to a fish restaurant that had a ladies menu, I believe they still do. Its not sexist, its reality."

"I don’t eat meat but always have kids meals when I go out.... smaller portion," another said.

A third added: "I want a ladies portion!! If I eat a man sized portion I get fat. I don't need as much as my hubby."

Another said it was "offensive", while one wrote: "Just cut off what you can't eat and hand it to the man."

"I enjoy my meat more than many men, so personally I think it's a crazy idea," another wrote.

And another added: "Instead of calling it Ladies steak just show the sizes instead of keeping this sexualism going. It's a steak."
