A Greek restaurant is facing backlash online after calling Kylie Jenner‘s recent visit a “true honor“ in a now-viral Instagram post.
Tassia Restaurant in Kefalonia dubbed the celebrity “an inspiring guest,” but many social media users mocked the tribute as excessive. Critics accused the owners of idolizing fame, while others pledged to boycott the restaurant altogether.
The restaurant’s post quickly drew criticism for over-hyping a celebrity guest

Tassia Restaurant’s post about Kylie Jenner’s visit was filled with praise for the influencer-entrepreneur.
“An inspiring guest, and one of the most influential women of her generation…She experienced a taste of our Greek hospitality and cuisine. It was a true pleasure to host such a remarkable guest. We hope to welcome her again soon!” the restaurant wrote in its Instagram caption.

Rather than boosting business, the restaurant’s tribute to Jenner ended up being flooded with mockery from netizens, according to the Daily Mail.
“‘Honor?! Did she find cure for cancer or what?!'” an Instagram user wrote.

Others echoed the sentiment, criticizing the restaurant for treating Jenner’s visit like a historic moment.
“Honor LOL… as if she were an important figure for humanity,” one user wrote.
Another added: “Honor? For what? For (being) plastic (and lying) about it and (making) young girls insecure about (themselves)? Ohh noooo!”
Another Instagram user bluntly asked: “Relax brother for what a honor? I don’t understand (unless it’s) a president or prime minister or a doctor. (It’s) just a girl with big a** and many boyfriends,” yet another Instagram user stated.
Some netizens defended the restaurant, while others vowed to boycott it

The backlash didn’t stop at sarcasm. Some commenters said the restaurant’s praise of Jenner turned them off entirely.
“Thanks! Now I know where NOT to go,” one Instagram user declared. Another simply posted, “Boycott.”

Still, some people jumped in to defend the restaurant, calling the outrage overblown.
“People who are getting mad at this need to touch grass,” one commenter noted.

“If I had Kylie come visit my restaurant, I would post about it too,” another wrote.
This isn’t the first celebrity the family-owned restaurant has hosted

Despite the sudden backlash, Tassia Restaurant has a long history of attracting high-profile visitors.
Just a few weeks earlier, NBA legend Magic Johnson stopped by, and the owners also gave him a glowing tribute on social media.
The restaurant called the NBA icon “a returning guest with legendary energy.”

They’ve also welcomed Demi Moore, Samuel L. Jackson, Queen Camilla’s son Tom Parker Bowles, Diesel founder Renzo Rosso, and former U.S. Senator Bob Menendez, among others.
The restaurant, known for its traditional home-cooked dishes made with ingredients from local producers and its own garden, has built a strong reputation among celebrities.
Kylie’s European vacation continues after the Bezos-Sanchez wedding, but boyfriend Timothée Chalamet is nowhere to be found

Jenner’s dinner in Kefalonia was part of a longer European getaway. The Kylie Cosmetics founder recently attended the extravagant $56 million wedding of Amazon founder Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sánchez.
Since then, she has been seen in a yacht with Anastasia, a close friend.
Missing from the island vacation was Kylie’s current boyfriend, actor Timothée Chalamet.

The Dune: Messiah star is set to return as Emperor Paul Atreides in the third installment of the blockbuster sci-fi franchise. The couple made their red carpet debut earlier this year at 70th annual David di Donatello Awards in May.
Before Chalamet, Kylie famously dated rapper Travis Scott, the father of her two children, Stormi and Aire.
Numerous netizens wondered why Kylie’s visit to Tassia Restaurant annoyed some social media users
