Restaurant owner offers free drinks to NHS staff during coronavirus outbreak

A restaurateur is offering Nottingham's NHS staff a drink on him "as a small thank you" during the coronavirus outbreak.

Edin Gondzic, who came to the city from Sarajevo, said: "It doesn’t matter what wealth some might have, nature shows after all who is in charge.

"NHS staff will face something that none of us have experienced during our lives, apart from few of us, who saw the war and suffering.

"The least we can do is to show them some kind of appreciation. A drink or coffee, a small gesture. It reminds us what an amazing job these people do - long education, endless challenges, long hours - that’s my reason to say thank you to them.

The offer applies to Edin's three Italian restaurants in Hockley - Sexy Mamma Love Spaghetti in Heathcoat Street, Sexy Mamma Love Cicchetti, in Carlton Street, and Botti di Mamma in Broad Street.

Edin added: "To any NHS staff in Nottingham, and I know there might be 30,000... if in town and you feel like a having a drink from me, show my staff your NHS card and I will treat you.

"This is the least we can do for you this month. This is not promo, just a small thank you for your time spent looking after patients."
