Restaurant owner bans 'crank' and people love him for it

People are praising a Merseyside restaurant owner who told a "crank" she was no longer welcome at his business.

Paulo Teixeira, owner of Twelve in Southport, hit back at a customer after they left a bad review online.

The diner who left a review on Tripadvisor last week was called out by the owner, and told she "should have gone the chippy".

Her review said the restaurant was "very disappointing" and that she "would not go again".

She also said the food was “so salty" and "very overpriced".

Not happy with the review - owner Paulo Teixeria hit back at the diner.

Responding on Tripadvisor, he wrote: "I have had enough of people like yourself who come over with a fur coat, then moan about the prices.

"You should have stayed at home or gone to the chippy.

"The place [has been] shut for nearly a year and you create a profile to talk this rubbish? I went to your table a few times, why didn't you say [this] to me then?

"Glad you're not coming back. I don't want or need your clientele - plus you shouldn't order a salt and pepper dish [if you don't want it to be salty]."

He signed the review with his name, followed by "(the owner who gave you free drinks but you didn’t complain about the freebies)"

Dozens of people have taken to Facebook to praise Paulo and his restaurant.

Katie Netherway said: "Bad crank, her. Love this restaurant. There's just no pleasing some people."

Helen Williams wrote: "We have just been for the first time tonight and will definitely go back again!"

Shea Barton said: "I've eaten there and it was fantastic. Some people just don't have a clue about good food."

Stuart Billingham wrote: "Every credit to him calling her out."
