Nov. 06--Il Tartufo: Fans of Eataly Chicago may have another reason to visit: Il Tartufo, a pop-up truffle restaurant, opens in the complex Nov. 6.
Tartufo ("truffle" in Italian) will offer both a bar and restaurant menu featuring truffles on pastas, sandwiches and other classic Italian dishes. Some highlights: tagliolini, a ribbon-shaped pasta, with anchovy butter sauce and freshly shaved white truffles; and housemade focaccia with mortadella, mascarpone, artichoke puree and black truffles.
Tartufo al Tavolo, which translates as "a truffle for the table," is an option that allows a table to purchase an entire truffle at the per-gram market price, then as much as you want can be shaved onto any item, says general manager Malory Scordato.
The full-service restaurant will take over Eataly Chicago's new private space, II Salone on the second floor, with a 50-seat dining room, market tables and bar seating available. The pop-up will be open Nov. 6 to Dec. 6. Guests can visit 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Wednesday to Saturday, and 11 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. Sunday. 43 E. Ohio St., second floor; www.eataly.com.
