Restaurant chain lodges plans for outdoor tables in South Ayrshire

Restaurant chain Buzzworks has applied for planning permission to change the pavement outside one of its venues into a dining area.

The firm hopes to place six two seater tables at Lido in Troon’s West Portland Street.

A planning statement submitted to South Ayrshire Council said there would still be 2000mm of clear footpath left for walkers to use.

The Buzzworks statement said: “It has been identified that there is a real appetite for external, casual dining as well as the more traditional coffee offer.

"Some of Buzzworks' venues are based in town centres with limited external spaces.

"Where there is a space to work with this will hopefully be developed into a terrace.

"Where there is sufficient pavement width the possibility of street tables will be explored.”

Buzzworks said the Ayrshire Roads Alliance has no objections as long as “the necessary footpath permits are completed and approved.”

South Ayrshire Council is considering the planning application.
