Restaurant brawl sparks police appeal

Police are looking to speak with two men after a restaurant worker was reportedly headbutted during a payment dispute.

Officers were responding to reports of a fight at Victoria Shwarma Restaurant in Radford at 3.20pm on Monday, August 23.

It is believed two customers approached the counter to pay for their meals before a dispute broke out over the bill.

One of the men then reportedly took money from the till and, when a member of staff asked for the money back, he was headbutted to the floor.

A plant pot was allegedly then thrown at the staff member's head and he was placed in a headlock before other workers helped to break up the fight.

Nottinghamshire Police were told that two customers then left the establishment, but soon returned carrying a knife and a screwdriver.

The men then fled towards Gregory Boulevard after police say they smashed a large window at the front of the restaurant.

Detective Sergeant Chris Berryman said: "This was a significant disturbance and officers were very quickly on the scene.

"We are working to establish the exact sequence of events and would like to speak with anyone who saw this incident unfold.

"Violent behaviour will not be tolerated in our communities.

"The public should feel safe in restaurants and I'd like to thank staff for their co-operation in this case. Thankfully, no one was seriously injured in this incident.

"We are determined to catch those responsible and I would like to urge anyone with information that may assist our enquiries, or who recognise the men in the images, to call 101 quoting incident 441 of 23 August."
