Shortly following the launch of Apex Legends Season 28, developer Respawn unexpectedly shared a roadmap up to Season 32 for the live-service battle royale. The year ahead includes two new Legends, a new weapon, an update to battle royale mode (pubs), and overhauls for looting, weapons, and Legends.
The look ahead is exciting, but slightly shadowed by the lackluster reception of Season 28 by the playerbase. This season’s change to ranked—the removal of POI specific drop ships—has been met with vocal dissatisfaction, which may have prompted Respawn to share what players have to look forward to.
What’s coming in the next few seasons of Apex Legends?

There were two types of announcements for what players can expect up to Season 32, some solid news like a new skirmisher Legend next season, and some vague, like “Respawn Evolution Update” and “Battle Royale Mode Update”. Respawn also included each of the LAN events for ALGS Year 6, which were already announced at the recent ALGS Year 5 Champs in Sapporo, Japan.
Here’s what each season promises:
| Season | Additions / Changes |
| Season 28 (Feb. – Apr. 2026) | Hardlight Mesh, Fuse Rework, Updates to Catalyst and Bloodhound, Wildcard Events x2 |
| Season 29 (May – Jul. 2026) | New Skirmisher Legend, Respawn Evolution Update, Mobility + QOL Map Updates, ALGS Split 1 Playoffs, Wildcard Events x2 |
| Season 30 (Aug. – Oct. 2026) | Legend Rework: Recon Class, Weapon + Looting Overhaul, World’s Edge Competitive Update, ALGS Split 2 Playoffs, Wildcard Events x3 |
| Season 31 (Nov. 2026 – Jan. 2027) | Legend Rework, New Akimbo Weapon, Battle Royale Mode Update, ALGS Year 6 Champs, Wildcard Events x2 |
| Season 32 (Feb. – Apr. 2027) | New Legend, Legend Class Overhaul, Major Map Update, Wildcard Events x2 |
Following Season 30, a majority of the content Respawn shared is marked by asterisks, showing it as “planned” and thus subject to change. It’s nice to see that Apex Legends is adding more Legends in the near future, as it’s been a long while (specifically Season 25 with Sparrow, which launched in May 2025) since the game added a new character.

On the blog post about the roadmap, Respawn wrote that, “both new Legends are designed to shake up how you approach building your squad”, which is probably the most exciting claim regarding the next few seasons. It is slightly disappointing to see the next Legend is a Skirmisher, easily the most bloated class in the game, but perhaps the future Class Overhaul in Season 32 will remedy that issue.
Beyond the season specific changes and additions, Respawn has promised continuing improvements to anti-cheat, match making, and server performance, as well as balancing for Legends and weapons, QOL improvements, and audio improvements. The communication from Respawn is very welcome, and hopefully the next few seasons will be better received than Season 28.
