Local district resistance committees played a central role in Sudan's revolution, organising the protests that toppled longtime President Omar al-Bashir in April.
Since a transitional government was formed in August, they have stepped in to provide services on a local level, while reminding the new leadership to keep on track with their reforms.
But not everyone values their efforts.
