A Virginia golf course owned and frequented by President Donald Trump has been spray painted with the word ‘resist’.
The large red letters appeared on the golf course close to a capital letter A drawn inside a circle.
NBC Washington reports that empty containers of bleach were found at the scene, while a chemical thought to be bleach had been poured on the grass. Holes had also been dug on the course by the vandals.
The President had been playing golf on the course on Sunday with Kentucky senator Rand Paul, a day after authorities were alerted to the vandalism on the course’s 13th fairway, according to the Associated Press.
Kraig Troxell, a spokesperson for Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office, told reporters that the Secret Service is leading the investigation on the case.
Since Mr Trump’s inauguration, the word ‘resist’ has been used by a wide range of activists opposing his presidency and policies.
This week students at Harvard University created a four-week course to teach activists how to resist the President, under the name Resistance School.
