Residents woke by 'loud bang' as several cars damaged in early hours crash

Residents woken by a 'loud bang' found several parked cars had been damaged during a crash in Levenshulme.

Police were alerted after 'multiple' vehicles were damaged following the incident in the early hours of Thursday.

Officers were called to Barlow Road at about 1.15am.

One resident, 27-year-old James Cleaver, said three cars had been damaged.

While there were also claims that up to six other vehicles were damaged on a neighbouring street.

No arrests have been made, GMP said.

Mr Cleaver, whose car wasn't one of those damaged, said: "It was about 1am and we heard like a loud bang and basically a crashing noise, like glass shattering," Mr Cleaver said.

"It didn't really register at the time and we didn't think much of it.

"It was only first thing in the morning a neighbour sent a text saying someone had their car damaged but they didn't know who.

"It was a real shock.

"But then again its pretty typical of some of the driving we see round here especially on that little bit of our street so in that sense its not that much of a surprise."

A GMP spokesperson said: "Officers received a call at 1.15am on Thursday 27 May to a report of a vehicle that had been involved in a collision on Barlow Road, Manchester.

"Officers attended and located minor damage on multiple vehicles. Enquiries are ongoing.

"No arrests have been made."
