An out-of-control bushfire is threatening homes and properties, with fast-moving conditions keeping residents on edge and evacuation orders in place.

Residents in Morangup, about an hour northeast of Perth, are keeping watch on their homes as a nearby fire rages.

The Department of Fire and Emergency Services issued an evacuation order but later rescinded it as fire crews managed to contain the blaze by early Sunday evening.

Firefighters are being assisted by aerial support.

Further north, another emergency warning has been issued for a bushfire burning in parts of Callala and Muleya.

The warning covers an area bounded by Cook Rd, Callala Rd, Barn Rd and Bindoon Moora Rd.

Residents are being urged to evacuate and head south towards Bindoon.

Fire crews are attending the blaze, which was reported just after 11am on Sunday.

It is too late to leave for those living in Waggrakine and Moresby, about 12km northeast of Geraldton.

An evacuation order was issued just before 3pm but by 3.20pm, authorities warned it was too late and too dangerous to leave.

"You are in danger and need to act immediately to survive. There is a threat to lives and homes," a Department of Fire and Emergency Services WA warning reads.

"Homes in the warning area are under threat by fire now."

The Department of Communities has established an evacuation centre at QEII Seniors and Community Centre in nearby Geraldton.

The blaze was first reported about 10.30am on Sunday and is moving quickly in a northerly direction.

The threat from a bushfire burning southeast of Perth in the suburbs of Karragullen, Lesley and Pickering Brook has been reduced as firefighters worked to bring it under control about 4pm.
