Residents shocked after 'tragic' death of young man who collapsed in street

A community has voiced its shocked following the death of a man who collapsed in a residential street.

Police were called to Rock Street in Bulwell just after 7am on Sunday, July 11, and confirmed the death is not currently being treated as suspicious, although inquiries are continuing.

Residents in Rock Street spoke of their sadness after the incident, describing it as a tragedy.

Dispatcher Suman Ali, 24, lives a few houses up from where the body was found.

She said: “It is shocking that something like could happen here.

“It is a bit concerning when you find out that it was so close to your house as well.

“It is just upsetting."

A resident who did not wish to be named said: “We are definitely saddened by the incident because it has happened in our area.

“I am sure it was an accident, but it is still very upsetting.

“He looked like a young boy. Such a tragedy."

A fellow resident who also asked to remain anonymous added: “This is a quiet street, nothing ever happens here.

“It is concerning when this kind of incident happens right on your street.”

Nottinghamshire Police officers were called to the scene at 7.30am today and a spokesperson for the force initially confirmed the body of a young man was found

Detective Sergeant Nigel Malik said: “We were called at 7.30 am today to a report that a man had died having collapsed in Rock Street, Bulwell.

“The man's death is not currently being treated as suspicious.

“We are carrying out inquiries and ask that anyone with information call us on 101 quoting incident 196 of 11 July.

“His family has been informed and are being supported by officers.”
